Abstract

The modified Kies flexible generalized family is developed. It can incorporate bimodal and bathtub shapes,
and its properties are derived from those of the exponentiated-G class. Within this family, a special case is
discussed in terms of its properties and a regression model. The parameters are estimated using the maximum
likelihood method, and some simulations are carried out to check their consistency. The usefulness
of the proposals is proven by means of three real data sets.
